Why is a northstar home better than a traditional home?
What parts of northstar homes are made of FRP?

FRP, or Fiber Reinforced Polymer, is a composite material that is made by combining fibers with a polymer matrix. There are several types of FRP, including:
Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP): This type of FRP is made with glass fibers and a polymer matrix. It is commonly used in construction and infrastructure applications.
Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP): This type of FRP is made with carbon fibers and a polymer matrix. It has a high strength-to-weight ratio and is commonly used in aerospace, automotive, and sports equipment applications.
Aramid Fiber Reinforced Polymer (AFRP): This type of FRP is made with aramid fibers, such as Kevlar, and a polymer matrix. It has high strength and impact resistance and is commonly used in military and protective gear applications.
Basalt Fiber Reinforced Polymer (BFRP): This type of FRP is made with basalt fibers and a polymer matrix. It has good resistance to fire and high temperatures and is commonly used in construction and infrastructure applications.
Natural Fiber Reinforced Polymer (NFRP): This type of FRP is made with natural fibers, such as bamboo or hemp, and a polymer matrix. It is a sustainable alternative to traditional FRP materials and is commonly used in building and construction applications.
We utilize primarily Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer. It consists of glass fibers embedded in a polymer matrix, usually made of epoxy or polyester resin. GFRP is known for its high strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and durability, which make it an excellent choice for various applications in construction, automotive, aerospace, marine, and sports equipment industries. GFRP is often used as a substitute for traditional construction materials such as steel and concrete, due to its low weight and ease of installation. It is also used to reinforce existing structures or to repair damaged ones.

FRP manufacturing represents a radically reduced environmental impact over the traditional materials like steel or concrete preparation methods. Pultrusion of FRP materials produces fewer greenhouse gases and consumes less energy than the manufacturing of steel, iron, aluminum and concrete. Since glass is made from sand, an abundant, natural, non-depleting resource - fiberglass is a highly sustainable solution. FRP materials can be easily recycled and reused - we use Polyester Thermal set resin which can be grinded down to create a powder which is mixed with new polyester resin and cast into molds to make new parts.

Northstar Homes are not 100% FRP. We use metal screws and interior framing as well as concrete in the slab. We can use various types of drywall & stucco for the interior & exterior of the walls. You also have multiple options available for roof type. Parts of a Northstar Home built using FRP materials are the trusses, exterior walls, rebar in foundation, floor & roof decking, structural columns, stairs & landings, and structural elements & features. One of the major benefits of building with FRP is its versatility. Therefore, FRP’s applications in construction are only expected to grow!

Yes. If you need to purchase a lot, our NRG (Northstar Realty Group) team of brokers & agents can assist you in finding and securing a land site for your new construction. If you already own a plot of land, our NBS (Northstar Building Systems) team can begin site analysis. Once due diligence for the lot and necessary inspections are completed, then we accordingly begin the design process taking land data into account.

FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) is a composite material that has several advantages over traditional construction materials like steel and concrete, but its strength can vary depending on the application and specific materials used.
In terms of strength-to-weight ratio, FRP is generally stronger than steel and concrete. For example, CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer) has a tensile strength that is more than 5 times greater than that of steel, while weighing only one-fourth as much. Additionally, FRP has a high stiffness-to-weight ratio, which makes it useful in applications where low weight and high stiffness are important.
FRP is pound-for-pound stronger than steel - In other words, if you have a pound of FRP and a pound of steel, the pound of FRP would be able to handle greater stress or load before breaking than the pound of steel. This is because FRP has a higher strength-to-weight ratio than steel, which means it is lighter but can withstand comparable or greater forces. -
